Relay.app just gave its users two hard deadlines.
Free accounts will be deleted after August 15, 2026. Paid customers keep access until September 14, 2026. New signups and free-to-paid upgrades are already off, which means the product is in wind-down mode, not business-as-usual. Relay says existing workflows will keep running during the transition, but the company is clear that data you do not export will be deleted when the window closes. Relay announcement
For small businesses, the practical question is not whether this is unfortunate. It is whether any real work depends on Relay right now.
If the answer is yes, do not wait for the calendar to make the decision for you.
What Relay says you can export
Relay says you can export:
- workflows, sequences, and MCP servers as JSON and prompts
- run history
- tables as CSV files
That matters because it gives you enough to reconstruct at least the shape of the automation elsewhere, instead of trying to remember how a process was wired six weeks from now. Relay export docs
The owner takeaway
If Relay is handling lead routing, client intake, approvals, internal reminders, or AI-assisted follow-up, treat this like an operational dependency review.
Do three things today:
- List every workflow that touches customers, money, or deadlines.
- Export the ones you cannot afford to lose.
- Decide what gets rebuilt, what gets replaced, and what gets retired.
That sounds basic, but that is the whole game with automation tools. When they work, they disappear into the background. When they leave, the business suddenly remembers how much routine work was sitting on top of them.
The good news is that Relay is still running during the wind-down period, so you have time to migrate carefully. The bad news is that time is now a shrinking asset.
If your business uses Relay for anything more than a toy workflow, this is not a later problem. It is a today problem.
