Getting a business insurance quote used to mean sitting through a phone call, filling out a long form, or wading through a broker's website. Today, Simply Business changed that with one move: they launched a business insurance app directly inside ChatGPT.
The app is now live in the ChatGPT App Directory for small business owners in the U.S. (and separately in the UK). You can find it through the directory or by asking ChatGPT a related question, and it will surface as a recommendation.
How It Works
The process is stripped down to three inputs:
- Your business type or trade
- Your estimated annual revenue
- Your ZIP code
That's it. In seconds, you get an indicative price estimate for business insurance coverage. If the number looks right, you're redirected to simplybusiness.com to complete the full quote and buy a policy.
Simply Business is clear that no personally identifiable information (PII) is collected inside the ChatGPT interface itself. The sensitive parts of the transaction happen on their own platform.
Why This Matters
This is a small but meaningful shift in how financial services products reach small business owners. Simply Business serves over one million customers worldwide -- they're not a startup testing a feature. This is a major insurer choosing ChatGPT as a distribution channel.
For small business owners who already spend time in ChatGPT for writing, research, or operations help, insurance discovery is now one conversation away. The friction drop is real. Instead of remembering to go get a quote, the moment you're thinking about your business in ChatGPT is the moment you can also check what coverage might cost.
The broader signal here: financial services companies are starting to treat AI assistant platforms the way they once treated Google Search -- as the place customers show up when they have a question, and therefore the place to put an answer.
The Catch
This is still an indicative quote, not a final price. The number you get inside ChatGPT is a starting point, not a commitment. You still have to complete the full process on simplybusiness.com before anything is binding.
And like any insurance tool, what you actually pay depends on details that three data points can't fully capture -- claims history, specific trade risks, employee count, and more. Think of the ChatGPT app as a 30-second gut check, not a done deal.
What to Do With This
If you're a small business owner who has been putting off getting or reviewing insurance coverage (most are), this removes the main excuse. Open ChatGPT, find the Simply Business app, and spend three minutes getting a ballpark. It won't commit you to anything.
If you already have coverage, it's still worth a quick check. Insurance rates shift. A quick estimate tells you whether you're roughly in the right range or significantly overpaying.
The app is available now in the ChatGPT App Directory. Search "Simply Business" or ask ChatGPT about small business insurance and it should surface automatically.
